Hello Everybody! Today I’d like to talk about ways that we can boost our immune systems. This is important for everybody but especially those with acne! Read on to find out how to keep
-
Eat foods that boost your immune system like lemons, oranges, garlic and foods that contain zinc, selenium, magnesium and vitamin E, A, and beta–carotene. If you know your immune system is weak take a multi-vitamin.
-
Take an herbal supplement. There are hundreds on the market-all of which will help to boost the body’s natural immunity. Echinacea is very useful for immune system problems. You can also try aromatherapy oils.
-
Get enough sleep. At least 6-10 hours depending on your needs. Need I say more?
-
Eat plenty of low-fat protein-but not too much. Proteins are the foundation of a healthy immune system, brain, skin, muscles and blood.
-
Drink lots of water- at least eight glasses a day. If you get headaches and feel tired and thirsty during the day you’re probably dehydrated.
-
Avoid caffeine. That includes coffee, cola and candy bars that contain chocolate. Caffeine depletes the body of vitamins and minerals and will also dehydrate the body. A dehydrated body can’t keep the skin healthy and clear.
-
Avoid refined, white sugar. This is by far one of the best ways to strengthen your immunity. Sugar drains the body of energy, causes weight gain and lowers immunity. It can even cause fuzzy thinking. Many nutritionists believe sugar acts on the brain and body like a toxic drug. Use agave or stevia instead.
-
Eat more fruits and vegetables! How many? As many as possible. Our grandmothers were right when they told us to eat all our greens. Fruits and veggies in an array of bright colors contain antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber and enzymes. No other food can compare to the healing and protective function of fruits and vegetables.
-
Take a walk or do some exercise in the cold. Exercise energizes the body and stimulates immune function by causing the release of chemicals called endorphins. Filtered air fosters germs so go outside and do something active. The cold weather causes the thyroid gland to work better and peps it up.
In love and hope
