Hello Everybody!
- Leave it alone. I know, I know, I said I was going to help! Seriously though, sometimes leaving a pimple alone and just keeping the skin clean and toned is the best way to get rid of a pimple fast. Whatever you do, don’t pick at it! This will result in an unsightly scab that will make that prom or wedding or big date feel even worse than the pimple. Remember your fingers are covered in bacteria so try to keep them away from your face where it will only spread to your skin.
- Avoid astringent preparations. I know how tempting it is to just want to nuke a blemish with something strong, but these products will only dry the skin and make your complexion worse. Don’t overdo the face washing either; this will only create more oil and acne breakouts.
- Spot-treat the pimple. Use a simple over-the-counter-remedy such as benzoyl peroxide, tea-tree oil or Acnezine.
- Choose cosmetics wisely- Pick non-comedogenic or oil-free products and find a concealing cream that is green-based as this will help to hide the redness effectively.
- Don’t go into the sun and don’t worry too much about your skin. Both sun-exposure and stress build-up can aggravate the effects of teen acne, so avoid them both in the next few days.
- If you’re really feeling desperate and it’s a very special occasion visit your dermatologist and ask him/her for a shot of cortisone. This can be injected right into the pimple to help shrink it and reduce redness.
